Derbyshire Autism Services Group - Residential Breaks Volunteer

A volunteer joins a group of staff and other volunteers in taking a group of between 6 and 8 young people on a residential break. These are between 24 and 48 hours depending on the team the volunteer assists. Activities include ropes courses, night hikes, games, climbing etc and aim to boost the confidence and self-esteem of the young people whilst giving other family members a much needed break.

We offer comprehensive in house training to all volunteers before they begin volunteering. This currently runs over three evenings and covers topics such as What is Autism and Aspergers, impact on family, behaviour strategies, safeguarding, policies and procedures to name but a few.
Ongoing training is then offered as and when appropriate and regular supervisions take place.

Volunteers must also complete an application form, have an informal interview, receive two satisfactory references and a satisfactory CRB check.
